Woman allegedly stole partner's vehicle, spray-painted his face

A woman allegedly stole her partner's car, drove it to his home in Kambah and spray-painted his face before assaulting him.

ACT Policing said the 49-year-old from Kambah was arrested and charged with vehicle theft and assaulting her partner.

Police said on Monday night, a vehicle was reported stolen from a Greenway shopping centre car park and CCTV footage obtained by police depicted a woman stealing the vehicle.

About 6pm on Tuesday, the woman allegedly drove the stolen vehicle to her partner's residence in Kambah. Over the next several hours, she allegedly engaged in prolonged, erratic and destructive behaviour, causing extensive damage to the residence.

She also allegedly threw various items at her partner, with some striking him, as well as spraying aerosol paint into his face, police said.

About 11.20pm, police received reports of a disturbance at the residence. Officers attended and located the woman inside the house. Police recognised her to be the same woman who was depicted in the CCTV footage stealing the vehicle on Monday.

The woman was arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House.

Officers located the stolen vehicle in the driveway of the Kambah residence. The vehicle was seized and taken for forensic examination.

The woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 after being charged with two counts of aggravated common assault, and one count each of aggravated property damage, take motor vehicle without consent and drive motor vehicle without consent, police said.

ACT Policing said the force stands ready to assist victims experiencing family violence.
