White House denies Trump was mystery patient given early access to weight-loss drug

  • White House officials are denying that President Donald Trump was the 79-year-old patient who reportedly received early access to retatrutide, an experimental weight loss drug, under "compassionate use."
  • Health news site STAT reported that drug maker Eli Lilly and the FDA granted a 79-year-old patient access to the treatment for severe health complications, including refractory obesity, obstructive sleep apnea and pulmonary hypertension.
  • White House spokesman Kush Desai called suggestions that Trump was the patient "baseless speculation," and other White House accounts accused commentators of spreading "bulls***."
  • The patient's request for the drug reportedly drew interest from top health officials, suggesting they were "well connected."
  • Trump, who is now 80, previously received early access to an antibody therapy for Covid during the pandemic and has denied using weight loss drugs like Wegovy and Ozempic.
