Spotify goes down as users report outages and music webpage goes dark

Spotify experienced outages Friday morning, leaving the music streaming giant’s webpage inaccessible to many users.

Reports of issues spiked around 8 a.m., according to DownDetector, a website that tracks problems for online services. People who visited the popular app’s website were greeted with a “page not available message.”

Social media was flooded with complaints from users around the world who said they were unable to access their favorite tunes and curated playlists.

“Is Spotify down?? i cannot survive without my music,” one X user wrote, while another chimed in: “OMFG Spotify is down AGAIN?????”

“Waking up to Spotify being down feels like waking up to a note that says ur wife left and took the kids,” a third user with a flair for the dramatic griped.

The outage comes just three days after users reported mass disruptions affecting the Swedish company, as well as DoorDash.

On Tuesday, Spotify said: “We’re aware of some issues right now with the app and are checking them out!” The problems appeared to have cleared up quickly.

Based in Stockholm, the firm promotes itself as the world’s most popular audio streaming subscription service, serving 761 million users. In addition to music catalogs, it also offers podcasts, such as the Joe Rogan Experience, and audio books.

In January, the publicly traded company raised the price of its premium subscription service from $11.99 per month to $12.99.
