If you’ve been eyeing up the Meta glasses for some time but hesitated because you want something more fashion-forward, well, you’re in luck. Meta has officially unveiled its new Meta glasses collection in partnership with eyewear specialist EssilorLuxottica, helping to reimagine its smart glasses in a way that leans far more into style than tech-heavy design.
The new range builds on the success of Meta’s existing AI glasses but introduces 26 new styles across multiple frame shapes, colours, and lens options. And at the centre of the launch is a new collaboration with Kylie Jenner, who has co-designed a slim oval frame as part of the collection. They come in three frame colours: classic black with black lenses, tortoise with chocolate lenses, and classic black with clear to grey transition frames. But the most personalised addition to these glasses is the built-in responses voiced by Kylie Jenner herself.
The Kylie Jenner design sits alongside more classic rectangle frames and bolder statement styles, but shares the same core AI-powered functionality across the range.
Earlier this year, our tech reporter put the Ray Ban edition of the Meta glasses to the test. Many things stood out to him, but ultimately they “changed how [he takes] photos” now. He explained: “What I adore about the Meta glasses is that I am able to capture moments exactly as I see them, without having to reach for my phone, especially when I’ve got both my hands full [...] It’s frankly liberating not having to take out your phone to frame a shot. You can just press a button on the side of your glasses or tell Meta to take the picture for you. I found myself taking lots more spontaneous photos whilst on a trip to Tokyo or grappling with shopping bags in both my hands.”
The sound quality provided by the glasses also impressed him, adding: “One neat feature I like about the Meta smart glasses is the spatial audio – all sound is recorded in a 3D space. If music or chatter is coming from your left, it will be placed in your ear towards the left and behind you when you replay the clip at a later date while wearing the glasses or a pair of headphones with spatial audio support.”
Here’s everything we know about the new releases so far.
