A MAJOR power outage has plunged large parts of Glasgow’s Southside into darkness this afternoon, with residents reporting a “huge blackout” across several schemes.
Scottish Power has confirmed that 92 postcodes are currently affected, including areas covered by G45, G44, G76 and G73.
The fault is understood to be impacting some of the busiest residential parts of the city.
The outage was reported at around 3.38pm on Monday, June 24.
Engineers are said to be working to restore supplies, but the latest estimated time for power to return is around 5.38pm.
A message issued to customers states: “We are aware of this power cut. We are working hard to restore your power.”
One resident in Castlemilk told the Glasgow Times: “There’s a huge blackout affecting the area right now. The entire scheme's basically shut down.”
