Jirachi has arrived in town, and although the main focus of the event is to unlock exclusive prizes, you also won’t want to miss out on getting them as a villager in Pokopia. It’s a pretty tricky process that’s not explained to you, so it can be tough to navigate.
For most Pokémon, all you need to do is build the right habitat to get them to move in. Jirachi is an event Pokémon, though, making them a bit more complex to recruit. If you’re struggling with this process, here’s how to get Jirachi in Pokopia.

How to unlock Jirachi in Pokopia
To get Jirachi as a permanent villager in Pokopia, you need to meet them while the event is live, acquire the necessary items to build a habitat, and show Jirachi to their finished habitat once the event ends. It’s a fairly complex process with a few tricky steps, so if any part of it is giving you trouble, here’s a full breakdown of everything you need to get done.
- Meet Jirachi. From June 23 to July 8, the Wish Upon a Jirachi event is live, which means you can meet Jirachi at any rebuilt Pokémon Center. You must chat with them at some point during this timeframe to begin the unlocking process.
- Build a habitat for Jirachi. You can technically complete this step during or after the event as long as you have the items to make it, but to ensure you’re able to get Jirachi as fast as possible, it’s best to set it up while the event is active. Jirachi requires a special Surrounded by Stars habitat to live in.
- Wait for the event to end. Jirachi is busy selling you rewards while the event is active, so you have to wait for it to be over before you can have them move in. The event ends at the very end of the day on July 8, so July 9 is the soonest you can actually unlock them.
- Show Jirachi the completed habitat. Once the event is over, locate Jirachi at one of the completed Pokémon Centers. Ask them to follow you, then lead them over to the habitat you set up for them. Chat with them again there to see if they want to move in. As long as the habitat is properly built and complete, Jirachi will agree and is then officially unlocked.
Jirachi can spawn at any rebuilt Pokémon Center, so if you don’t see them at the first one, be sure to check all versions of this building you have up and running. They also might wander around it a bit, so circle all around the center to make sure you don’t miss them. Jirachi flies a bit, too, so look up to make sure they’re not hovering just out of sight.

To actually get Jirachi to move in, you’ll need to make a Surrounded by Stars habitat for them. This habitat requires some of the Wish Upon a Jirachi event rewards, so you’ll need to progress through it a fair bit to acquire everything you need. Here’s how to make a habitat for Jirachi.
- One Star Closet
- One Cloud Table
- One Starry-Sky Bed
- One Jirachi Lamp
These four items can be placed in any formation as long as you put them close to one another. Once you’ve got the pieces all placed, make sure you supply electricity to this habitat to complete it. The Jirachi Lamp must be powered to actually register it as a liveable area, so if you place everything down but it doesn’t register, this is likely why.
