GTA 6 will cost $80, ‘plays best on PS5,’ and some content is locked behind $100 Ultimate Edition

The Grand Theft Auto 6 marketing blitz has officially begun.

Rockstar Games confirmed today that GTA 6 will be available for pre-order starting at midnight local time, and players will choose between two editions: the $80 standard version, and the $100 Ultimate Edition.

Interestingly, the Ultimate Edition will be home to “an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and action around every corner.” These bonuses “are threaded across all aspects of Jason and Lucia’s story, with new items uncovered behind each chapter.”

Ultimate Edition bonuses include certain car models, weapons, weapon variants, outfits, tattoos, and other customization items. But some of these items are found in specific stores found throughout Vice City, and these will only be “open for business with the Ultimate Edition.”

The Vintage Vice City Pack is the game’s main pre-order bonus, offering 80s-themed clothing, vehicles, hairstyles, and Tommy Vercetti-style weapons. Sony also revealed the contents of its “close partnership” with Rockstar, saying GTA 6 “plays best on PS5” thanks to the DualSense controller and Tempest 3D AudioTech.

“PS5 puts you in the center of the game world with the DualSense wireless controller reacting to your actions and bringing the sights, sounds, and sensations of Jason and Lucia’s story into the palm of your hands,” PlayStation said. “The controller’s haptic feedback offers responsive vibrations, while its adaptive triggers provide dynamic resistance. The controller’s integrated speaker also adds another dimension to key moments and interactions, with sound effects from the controller enhanced by haptic feedback.”

Unfortunately, the news today also confirmed there will be no disc version of GTA 6. Even physical purchases will come with a game code to download it on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Rockstar reiterated that GTA 6 will launch on Nov. 19, so it’s happening. Get ready to preorder tonight at midnight, and hopefully sit down to watch a new trailer that’s been several years in the making. And how about some actual gameplay, too? We’ll see.
