Baseball bat, firearm used in violent armed robbery at country pub

Police have released CCTV in the investigation of a violent armed robbery at a country pub.

The incident was caught on multiple cameras outside and inside the Erringhi Hotel at Clarence Town.

Emergency services were called to Grey Street, Clarence Town, about 6am on Thursday June 4 following reports of the armed robbery.

Police were told a 52-year-old employee was assaulted by two men armed with a baseball bat and a firearm.

CCTV captured them sneaking into the property, before attacking the staff member, while a brave pup watched on, barking in an attempt to scare off the offenders.

The two men fled the scene in the employee's vehicle.

The 52-year-old man was treated by paramedics before being taken to John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition after suffering a head injury during the assault.

A few days after the incident, the pub released a public statement thanking first responders and the community.

"The past few days have been incredibly challenging, and we have been overwhelmed by the kindness, support, and compassion shown by our local community and surrounding areas.

"We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our local first responders, paramedics and police for their prompt assistance, professionalism, and ongoing support during this difficult time. Your dedication to our community is greatly appreciated."
